Who we are and how it all started
Greenberry Bates started his passion and desire to build a homestead back in 1876. With his determination it fostered continued passion and drive to deliver a multitude of great family tales of success and good works. That passion and drive continues to inspire us with even more relentless energy to retain our heritage and homestead for generations to come. One of his sons Norman Bates purchased some of the property once he and his wife saved up enough to start living out their passion for farming as well. That son was Norman Bates, he and his wife Maxine Bates continued to live out their days tirelessly driving to maintain the homestead with various livestock and crops. Initially Norman worked hard to cultivate a beautiful grape vineyard that was destroyed from a tornado in the late 1950’s. He didn’t let that damper his desire to build his farming vision by continuing a path in Dairy/Beef cattle, Fruit Trees, Hogs, and Chickens.
